[/vc_column_text][vc_zigzag][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]It was a great day at the club yesterday when we played our first 4th team fixture since the team was withdrawn from the league at the end of 2016.Our very successful youth setup has meant there are a large number of hardball juniors coming through and the decision was taken at the end of the 2021 to restart our 4th team to give our juniors experience of league cricket and to ensure our increasing membership all had opportunities to play.Under the leadership of Baskar Narayanasamy the 4s began their league season away to Bass Rock 2s at Winterfield Park in Dunbar which I believe is a lovely ground to play at. Our starting XI was a blend of youth and experience with 4 juniors making their league debuts. The game was a great experience for all involved with Bass Rock 2s winning by 70 runs. There were some excellent performances with both bat, ball and in the field.Patrick Andrews hitting 26 and Arnab Bhattacharjee 23 as well as first league runs for Sailesh, Shreyas and Raghuram. There were some good spells from the juniors with Raghuram 0-11 off 5 overs, Shreyas 1-11 off 5 and Patrick 1-27 off 9 overs. Wickets also came for Sub, Baskar and Steve. 4 of the 5 wickets were caught which is great from a fielding point of view. This was a very encouraging start to the season for the 4s with all our juniors gaining invaluably experience for future games.Ian Shiels, our ex president would have been extremely proud of the club today as this was definitely his vision for the future when he started the junior section. Its thanks to him and our current club president Phil Yelland along with a legion of volunteers that the juniors are now thriving. The 4th team for many of our juniors is the stepping stone they need to make there way up the senior teams in the years to come. Our first team at the weekend had 4 products from our junior setup which shows what can be achieved with hard work and experience.[/vc_column_text][vc_zigzag][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_single_image image="5832" img_size="full"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_single_image image="4477" img_size="full"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_single_image image="5844" img_size="full" alignment="right"][/vc_column][/vc_row]
