One look at the wicket and we know that it was pretty hard and dry. Would be a nice wicket to bat on but will turn as well. Vivek won the toss and elected to field first.Tom Ritch and Viv started the proceedings. TR was as usual quite potent and had both the batsmen wanting with his pace. V.Tyagi was successful in bamboozling the stumps of young C.Burnett and there by getting in V.Devaraj into the middle. Being a southpaw and in the top 5 highest run getters in the list, we wanted to get his wicket at the earliest. Vivek set him up well by getting one to jag back into the left hander and got him lbw much to the delight of the entire team. Having the opposition 2 down for a low score, captain got Mr.Mohawk, the coach Neil Yelland and he was in business straight away by picking up N.Dobbs and 4 more wickets to pick his 1st fifer. By the time he was done with this spell, Musselburgh were 7 down and in the danger of get all out for a less than par score. Leg spin of fresh from a fifer himself for Scotland U17 game Jared Rubly and offspin of Roshan Mohammed was introduced and apart from Hemant Verma who scored 20, the opposition were not allowed to get into double digits. Roshan picked up 2 wickets and captain returned to finish off the last wicket and Musselburgh were all out for 62 in 33 overs. Yelland was pick of the bowlers and finished with 9-5-11-5 and a big grin and a scream for picking up his first fifer in 40 years of playing cricket. Vivek ended up with 8-4-12-3 and Roshan with 4-2-11-2. T.Ritch and J.Rubley were unsuccessful in picking up any wickets but bowled beautifully and ended up with 6-4-8-0 and 7-1-12-0 respectively.MUFS started the chase with Tom Grey and Garuda starting the proceedings. Both of them remained not out and scored 30 and 31 respectively and chased the score of 63 in 15.2 overs with T.Grey hitting the winning shot with a huge six, the one and only six of the game. All in all, a good game for the 1s who finally have moved up the table from 9th position to 7th and hopefully there is only one way forward - to move up.A special mention of the date 16-July-2022 which is indeed required for a special week as this is the 1st time since 2015 that we as a club have had a MUFSLAM. A term used when all 4 teams in the club having won their respective games on the same weekend. 7 years is a long time and we will try to get the gap shortened and try to get there more frequently.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
