Rain fails to dampen the spirits at first BBQ of the summer

So Finlay Sutherland Ross, Head of Social activities finally put a date in the diary for the first club BBQ. Unsurprisingly it coincided with one of his all time favourite singers, formerly of super group Destiny’s Child, Beyonce Knowles. Fin was really looking forward to shaking his Booty.

Perhaps even more unsurprisingly the weather gods had conspired against us with steady rain starting as the BBQ began. Rumour has it Fin had upset the club’s weather director by calling him a Tory on far too many occasions so he ordered in the rain as payback.

Sandstorm

Despite the weather the night was a great success with resident Kiwi “Sim” Fergusson taking the lead on the BBQ ably assisted by Garuda Sandstorm (cue the music), special mention must also go to Chris Fox from Musselburgh CC (this was who the 1s had been playing) for taking over barbecuing duties after Sim had to return home at short notice. We all know that Aussies love a BBQ and I have no doubt that Joe “Aussie” Beverley would have stepped in if he didn’t have another engagement to go to.

Family and friends from across the club attended with a very decent number of around 30. Plenty of photos and a video shown below (Thanks to all the contributors). We are already looking forward to the next BBQ later in June. Look out for Fin’s announcement. Perhaps he will be nicer to the weather director this time!

This guy can’t handle the spice
