WPL Side Make History
The 4th of May marked a milestone day in Murrayfield DAFS history as our Women’s side made their debut in the Cricket Scotland Women’s Premier League – the highest level of women's domestic club cricket in Scotland.
Led by captain Shristi Sharma, the side acquitted themselves well against a significantly more experienced East Kilbride side who fielded a full Scotland cap as well as a number of youth international and representative players.
It was a particularly proud day for our junior coaching team as youth products Aoife Power and Adwita Choudhury recorded milestone moments, scoring our first WPL runs and taking our first WPL wicket respectively.
While the team ultimately succumbed to a 7 wicket loss, the result was secondary to the remarkable achievement of fielding a competitive WPL side, a scarcely believable moment when the club established our women's setup only a few years ago.
We look forward to seeing how the team progress in the years to come!
